Texas has recently suffered extreme winds and heavy rainstorms from Hurricane Beryl, which reared its ugly head shortly after Independence Day weekend on July 8th. The Category 1 hurricane hit Texas and moved northward, resulting in residents going days without power. Winds in excess of 65 mph hit Houston then produced wind gusts with hurricane force – in excess of 80 m.p.h. throughout the city.

For residents living in Texas, living without power is hardly unfamiliar. In 2021, Texas suffered a power grid failure and suffered through a major power crisis.
